A Mormon Wife.
A Secret Life.
Trudy Thompson’s
road to Heaven
suddenly leads to Hell.

And she needs your help.

I invite you to join my support team behind this powerful, new theatrical work as it moves to the professional stage.

It’s a powerful way to say you helped launch a piece of exceptional, living art.

I hope Trudy Thompson—and I—can count on your support.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

War Bride of Mormon County is moving toward its Equity professional premieres in spring, 2026, with a launch at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, England, prior to a planned run in London, Off-West End.

Q: Why are you launching this show in the UK and not the US?
Q: What has been the show’s development to this point?

“Gripping and unforgiving in its honesty. (Huskinson) brings a fresh and unique perspective that is very much needed for today’s divisive times.”
Melvina Douse-Manuel, Playwright/Self-Producing Artist, New York.

WHO IS TRUDY THOMPSON?

Trudy is the protagonist in the gripping new play: War Bride of Mormon County. The play focuses on Trudy’s unexpected fight against a tiny corner of the planet’s toxic patriarchy. It is an intense family drama telling the powerful, inspiring tale of an underdog, outsider mother— fighting to save her daughter, and ultimately herself, from an abusive patriarchy and community where gaslighting, religious justification and alternate facts are a way of life.

“Tackles a dark family secret, shining a light on a collective tragedy hidden in plain sight…this play paints a disturbing portrait of the rationalization required to preserve denial.” Lisa Kent, essayist/columnist, Columbia, MO.

HOW CAN I HELP?

In a nutshell, I am inviting you to financially support this essential new piece of theatre.

Whether you’re one of my millionaire friends or a pal on a limited budget, I hope you’ll consider supporting me and this incredibly important piece of theatre that has the power to create hope, touch hearts, and shift thinking.

Also: who do you know who might like to join us in the effort?

The planned UK launch of the show—openings in Manchester and London—will require $375,000 US dollars. While that may sound like a lot, consider this: to do a similar launch in the US—starting in a smaller city and moving to an Off Broadway run in NYC, would cost well-over $1M.

And while I know many people are excited to simply support theatre at this professional level, as an extra incentive, your donation may be tax-deductible.*

Q: How can putting on a play cost so much money?
Q: How much do you expect me to give?
Q: Why are you asking for “donations” rather than “investors?”
Q: How is my contribution potentially tax decuctible—are you a charity?
